First: When I first got my Savage about 2 months
ago, I ordered a Suzuki luggage rack for it. My
pusher (I mean, dealer) just called and said that
it is in. Can't wait. I'm tired of having to put
my duffel on the seat behind me. It's been back
ordered for 6 weeks or more and I had almost given
up on it.
Does anyone have any experience installing one of
these? Any tips?
Second: I replaced my handlebars lately but the bars
I got are too wide. The stock chopper bars sat back
too far and were difficult to hold on to at speed.
Also, they required me to bend my wrists too much,
even though I liked the way they look.
The bars I got are very wide, like a cruiser.
I'm now thinking of replacing them again, with
traditional Superbake bars (like ordinary
motorcycles used to have in the '70s and '80s.)
The trouble is, the Savage seems to require
a 1 inch diameter bar, and all the choices seem to
be 7/8ths. Question: Is it reasonable to adapt a 7/8ths
bar to the 1 inch mounting apparatus. Or, does anyone
know a good source of 1 inch bars?
By the way, the bike is MUCH more comfortable on long
trips with the new bars. I also bought a dinky
windshield. I still eat plenty of wind, but it's
not all coming at me from the front, it kind of
swirls around instead.
Thanks for the info
Mike
